How do i get to Nusa Penida?
Flying from Australia to Bali, you will arrive at Denpasar Airport. From the airport you will need to catch a taxi or transfer to one of the nearby ports and then catch a boat to Nusa Penida.
Boats to Nusa Penida leave from both Sanur harbour and Serangan harbour several times a day. You can find boat tickets and information on booking sites such as Direct Ferries.
Please note: Flights, taxis and boat transfers to Nusa Penida are not included and you will need to book these independently.
What are the best dates for my flights?
Plan to arrive in Nusa Penida the afternoon of the first day, we will meet for a welcome dinner that evening. If you are completing your course, we will run a theory session at 4pm. We will have our last dive in the morning on the last day of the retreat, so plan to leave Nusa Penida no earlier than midday.
Accommodation Overview
OceanSense guests will be staying together at Ring Sameton Resort, located in 8 hectares of tropical garden and across the road from the beach. It has all the comforts you would expect including an outdoor pool, air conditioned rooms and wifi.
It is a short walk to all our activities for the week and close to a variety of healthy cafes and restaurants.
Included is accommodation in a deluxe twin share room. If you are travelling on your own we will pair you up with another freediver to share with.
There is the option to upgrade to a private room at an extra cost, subject to availability.

Retreat Schedule
The below schedule is an example, subject to variation. We will always choose the best dive sites for the days weather conditions and prioritise as much in water time as possible. We’ll keep our eyes open for all sorts of amazing underwater animals, but of course specific sightings of wild animals can’t be guaranteed.
Day 1ARRIVE IN Nusa Penida
- Make your way to Nusa Penida for check in at 2pm
- If completing your freediving course we will run a theory session at 4pm
- Group dinner at a beachfront restaurant and get to know your new freediving friends
Day 2Nusa Penida
- Freediving pool skills session for those completing the level 1 course
- Our first line diving session where we will put our new freediving skills to the test in the ocean
- Coral Reef exploration dive – dive through coral gardens, keep and eye out for turtles and clown fish
- Freediving equalisation techniques workshop
Day 3Nusa Penida
- Morning Yoga
- Manta Point – dive on a manta cleaning station, one of the best places to see manta rays.
- Freediving workshop on line diving strategy
Day 4Nusa Penida
- Breathwork & meditation
- Coral Reef exploration dive – drift dive over coral bombies, keep an eye out for turtles, rays and reef sharks
- Line diving – practice our skills, or perhaps try out no fins diving
Day 5Nusa Penida
- Morning Yoga
- Manta Bay dive – the best place to see manta rays on the surface and in shallow water
- Underwater Cave – dive through a short swim through into a bat cave
- Farewell dinner – share stories, photos and memories
Day 6Depart Nusa Penida
- Our last diving session for the trip, we’ll choose our favourite spot or somewhere we haven’t yet visited.
